노 이 서 (Rosy)
작가노트
나의 작품 속 공간은 의지적으로 행복과 만족감을 채워 넣는 유토피아다. 본인은 현실의 변화와 두려움, 욕망, 관계에 의한 좌절 등, 현대인이 느끼는 통제되지 않는 상황에 따른 고통에 주목한다. 이러한 감정은 작가 개인의 경험과 맞물려 일종의 대상을 상징적이고 환상적인 형태로 치환시키고 스스로의 공간에 배치하여 정원의 형태를 만들어 낸다. 이 정원은 나에게 완벽한 요새이며 통제되는 세계이고 고통을 희생시키고 다른 형태로 환생시키는 일종의 낙원과도 같은 곳이다.
나의 유토피아에서는 고통은 희생되고 다른 형태로 재탄생된다. 기다림을 딛고 환생한 백일홍이 그러하며 타인과 사회와의 관계를 조망하는 어해도가 그러하다. 작가는 전지적 시점으로 유토피아를 바라보며 이러한 시선의 비대칭성은 작가를 한시적 권력자로 만든다.
제우스의 아버지인 시간의 신 크로노스는 자식이 태어나는 족족 삼켜버리는 속성 때문에 괴물로 묘사되기도 한다. 이는 시간의 속성에 대한 상징으로 크로노스가 장정이 된 제우스에게 속아 형제들을 대 토해냈을 때 그는 신의 왕좌에서 내려오게 된다. 시간은 되돌릴 수 없기 때문이다.
시간의 속성은 변화에 있다. 유한한 존재는 변화하고 결국 부재한다. 크로노스가 삼켜버리듯이 시간은 모든 것을 삼키고 부재를 만들어 낸다. 나의 유토피아에서 시간의 속성에 의존한다. 공간 속의 대상들은 자치의 상징을 가진 아이콘들이지만 작가의 의도에 의해 재해석된 대상으로 작가의 2차적 가공물이다. 이 가공화된 형태들은 작가가 의도한 상태에서 천천히 시간과 함께 존재하며 그 흐름 속에서 산적되고 처음의 힘(고통)을 상실한다. 현실에서 만나는 고통과 두려움의 상태를 가공하여 만들어낸 이미지들은 스스로의 공간에서 주체가 “좋아할 만한” 형태로 치환되어 산적해 간다. 작가 본인은 오랫동안 신화적이고 상징적인 도상들에 매료되었으며 이들은 개인적 경험을 기반한다.
언젠가 뉴스에서 사고로 가족을 잃은 피해자 유족의 인터뷰를 본적이 있다. 그는 자신이 평범한 일상을 살아가고 있으며 웃고 사람들도 만난다고 했다. 그러면 주변에서 어떻게 그럴 수가 있냐고.. 이제 다 괜찮느냐는 질문을 한다고 했다. 그는 잊었고 괜찮은 것이 아니라 그러한 순간을 맞이하기 위해 일상을 살아간다는 취지로 답변했다.
나의 작업은 이러한 행위와 닮아있다.
현실의 고통과 기다림, 욕망을 기반으로 자라는 나의 유토피아는 역할을 충실하게 해낼 시점을 기다리며 의욕적으로 만들어진다. 본인은 아름다운 낙원의 완성된 청사진을 기대하며 희망차게 요새를 짓고 현실의 위협에 대해 일상적이고 작은 즐거움을 찾아가며 스스로의 멘탈을 지켜낸다.

Artist Statement
The space in my work is a utopia that fills happiness and satisfaction with will. I pay attention to the change of reality and the pain of uncontrolled situations felt by modern people, such as fear, desire and frustration with relationships. This emotion, in line with the writer's personal experience, replaces a kind of subject with a symbolic and fantastic form and places it in its own space to create a garden form. This garden is a perfect fortress to me, a controlled world, a kind of paradise that sacrifices pain and reincarnates it in other forms.
In my utopia, pain is sacrificed and reborn in other forms. Baek Il-hong, who has reincarnated himself after overcoming the wait, is the same as Eohae-do, who views relationships with others and so on. The writer looks at Utopia from an omnipotent point of view, and the asymmetry of these views makes the writer a temporary power.
Zeus' father, Cronus the Time god, is sometimes described as a monster because of the predatory nature of the race in which his children are born. It is a symbol of the nature of time that when Cronus was deceived by Zeus, who became a man, he was brought down from the throne of God when he vomited on his brothers. Because time can't be turned back.
The nature of time lies in change. A finite being changes and is ultimately absent. Time swallows everything and makes the absence, as Cronus swallows. I depend on the nature of time in my utopia. The objects in the space are icons with symbols of self-rule, but they are the secondary workings of the author, which have been reinterpreted by the author's intention. These machined forms are slowly present with time in the intended state of the author and are scattered in the flow and lose the initial force (pain). Images created by processing the conditions of pain and fear encountered in the real world are being replaced and scattered in their own space by the subject's "favourable" form. The author himself has long been fascinated by mythical and iconic figures, who are based on personal experience.
I once saw an interview with the bereaved families of the victims who lost their families in an accident on the news. He said he is living a normal life, laughing and meeting people. Then how could you do that around here? Now I'm asking if everything's okay." He replied, "I forgot and it's not all right, but I live my life to meet such a moment."
My work is similar to this.
Growing up on the basis of real pain, waiting and desire, my utopia is made motivated, waiting for the time to fulfill its role faithfully. Looking forward to the completed blueprint of the beautiful paradise, I build fortifications with hope and protect my mental faculties by searching for everyday and small pleasures in the threat of reality.
